The painter and image-creator Christian Stoop (*1969) completed his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). He lives and works near Zurich. Leaning towards realism, he is interested in situations that focus on people and their traces. Since 2016, he has presented every Sunday from 08.30 a small-format oil painting on his successful internet blog „weekly paint-things.“ In contrast, he is interested in surreal moments, especially picture-in-picture compositions. In his photographic works, the open-air painting created on-site covers up part of the scenery and added something new to it. He calls what emerges from this „real montage.“ In times of fake news, Christian Stoop asks us to look closely. In contrast to today’s joint photo manipulations, he assembles „his reality“ purely photographically, namely through the chosen camera angle of view.
